Product Spotlight: SOMA Repro Pulley for Campagnolo

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:33 pm by americancyclery

I did a pully replacement the other day for a customer’s pristine Medici, and it got me to thinking about how much of a frustration it was not having these lovely jockey wheels in the past.

Neuvo and Super Record derailleurs are built to last, but pulley wear is a fact of life. Thanks to these modestly priced little gems, the mechanics of the world can keep classic bikes running like they oughta.

It’s the simple things really…

Artifacts Unearthed, Vivre Merckx!

Posted in Uncategorized at 2:39 am by americancyclery

Now and again we come across some interesting artifacts, none more compelling than this illustrated children’s book about the fabulous exploits of Eddy Mercx.

Belgian children had it so good. French children on the other hand enjoyed an entire selection of Bibendums to play with. Way better than a Doughboy.

Find your current saddle lacking in lumbar support? Feeling a bit of drag off the backside?

Anchor Brewery Field Trip

Posted in Uncategorized at 3:10 am by americancyclery

After years of talking about it, we finally to up an offer from our Customer Jerry to go on a tour of San Francisco’s legendary Anchor Brewery, home of the tasty Steam Beer. We marveled at the brewery’s Copper stills.

We learned a lot about the brewery’s 100 year history, and about the the meticulous methods of their beer craft.

All were impressed by the fact that the majority of Anchor’s production is hand operated in the same way it has been for a century.

A tasting was enjoyed in the tap room, where we sampled Anchor’s fine offerings.

Much mirth was had, enjoying the many varieties of brews and experiencing San Francisco’s rich history. Go Team Go, and thanks again Jerry!

2010 Specialized Allez “Saxo-Bank” bikes have arrived

Posted in Uncategorized at 12:50 am by americancyclery

We got our first shipment of these beauties, and we all know that white bikes are the best looking and black bikes are the fastest.

So what could be better than a black and white bike? These come dressed in Saxo-Bank team colors (the Saxo-Bank logos are removeable if you don’t want to rep it) and a Shimano 105 drivetrain. All this for $1100? That’s right, eleven-hundo. Pro-tour style on a doable budget.
